Due to restrictions on what can be done to the historic buildings in the Miracle Mile (Wilshire Blvd. from Fairfax Ave. east to La Brea Ave.), Staples had to get creative with their signage on this classic Streamline Moderne building at the corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Cochran Ave.

To launch this blog, I thought I'd start with one of the most iconic buildings in Los Angeles. City Hall was built in 1928, and until 1964 was the tallest building in the city. Its tower was built with concrete that used sand from each of California's counties and water from each of its missions. It was featured prominently in the 1960s series Dragnet, and was used as the Daily Planet building in the 1950s TV version of Superman.
