To launch this blog, I thought I'd start with one of the most iconic buildings in Los Angeles. City Hall was built in 1928, and until 1964 was the tallest building in the city. Its tower was built with concrete that used sand from each of California's counties and water from each of its missions. It was featured prominently in the 1960s series Dragnet, and was used as the Daily Planet building in the 1950s TV version of Superman.

Nice pic, indeed, but I don't see how this is at all representative of the Los Angeles we don't see in movies. Isn't this precisely the Los Angeles we *do* see in movies? All the time?
